YYJ = Victoria International Airport · on Vancouver Island · about 30 minutes from Bear Mountain.

YVR = Vancouver International Airport · on the mainland · a different island entirely. If you land at YVR, you will need to take a BC Ferry across to Vancouver Island, plus extra driving on either side. That is roughly 4+ extra hours of travel.

Book your flight into YYJ (Victoria, BC). Confirm the airport code on your ticket before you book.

Getting from YYJ: About 30 minutes by car. Rental cars are available at the airport. Taxi or rideshare also work.
Crossing Into Canada

Passport, customs, and entry.

Valid passport required for all international travelers entering Canada by air. Make sure yours is current and will not expire close to your travel dates.

US citizens do not need an eTA, just a valid passport.

Citizens of visa-exempt countries (most of Europe, Australia, Japan, UK, etc.) typically need an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) before flying. Quick and inexpensive to apply for online.

Allow extra time at customs. Plan to arrive at the airport early and expect a few questions about your trip purpose (visiting for an event), where you are staying, and how long.
